Gilas names 12-man squad against Jordan

Japan B.League Thirdy import Ravena emerged as the final cut in Gilas’ final 12-man roster, who will face the Jordan national team on Nov. 10 (12 midnight Nov. 11 Manila time) in the first of two away games. matches in the fifth window of the Fiba World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers in Amman, Jordan.

The former Ateneo star, who currently plays for San-En NeonPhoenix, is actually one of four Filipino B.League players, who are part of the national squad.

Thirdy’s older brother, Kiefer, however, had to leave at the last minute due to an emergency dental procedure.

The other two B.League reinforcements, Dwight Ramos and Ray Parks, made the last 12 against Jordan.

Other members of coach Chot Reyes’ latest 12 include Adelaide 36ers slot player Kai Sotto, who will team up with Ateneo Blue Eagle and naturalized slot player Ange Kouame; TNT gunner and resident Gilas player Roger Pogoy, big man Poy Erram and Calvin Oftana, Scottie Thompson of Barangay Ginebra, veteran slorman Japeth Aguilar and Jamie Malonzo, along with CJ Perez of San Miguel and La Salle rookie Kevin Quiambao.

The final list of 12 players was released by basketball’s world governing body Fiba after its technical meeting 24 hours before the whistleblower.

Gilas enters the game tied with Jordan with similar records of 3-3 in Group E, although the Philippines have already qualified for the tournament as one of the hosts in 2023.
