Renaming for Telford’s flagship theater The Place

Telford Theatre, formerly known as The Place, with a production of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, raising funds for Severn Hospice

The Place Theatre, 19 Limes Rd, Telford, hosts a range of drama, comedy, dance, music and spoken word events for its audience.

Although it has always been known as The Place, Telford & Wrekin Council has now taken the decision to rename its flagship theater venue.

Telford Councilor Carolyn Healy, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Green Spaces, Natural and Historic Environment and Cultural Services, said: ‘You may have noticed we have a new name here at the theater – Telford Theatre. We have been known as The Place for several years now.

“The decision to refresh the name was based on community feedback and our ambition to host performances in venues outside the main theater building, such as the Open Air Theater in Wellington and Telford Town Park, taking with us our name Telford Theatre”.

Upcoming events at the Telford Theater include the Shropshire Music Awards on October 6, Peppa Pig’s Best Day Ever on Saturday October 8 and Sunday October 9 and Gordon Hendricks as Elvis on November 25.

It’s also looking forward to welcoming families to the auditorium for pantomime season, with a production of Snow White and The Dwarfs of Severn featuring EastEnders star Sam Attwater as the Prince.
