Lionel Messi is hailed by many as the greatest footballer on the planet.
Wherever the Barcelona icon and now Paris Saint-Germain star goes, he is followed by adoring fans, many of whom hail Messi as the reason they love the beautiful game.
However, unlike arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi is not one to shine in the celebrity world.
The shy youngster who traveled to Barcelona aged 13 from his hometown Rosario, never quite let his fame and fortune go to his head.
Which is crazy when you think he has 356 million followers on Instagram…
Instead, Messi always preferred to speak on the pitch, rarely speaking in public except when things really demanded of him.
Whether or not that helped him cement his legacy as a GOAT, we’ll never know, but that’s the beauty of Messi, he doesn’t need that title.
And in a recent video shared on Twitter, Messi once again showed his humble and introverted nature as PSG fans chanted his name as he warmed up on the sidelines of the Champions Trophy.

In the clip, Messi can be seen wandering the touchline near the corner flag.
When the bleachers erupt in a chorus of “Messi, Messi, Messi,” he turns to give them a quick wave and gives them a thumbs-up before shyly lowering his head as if to draw attention away from himself.
Towards the end of the video, he can be seen almost nervously crossing his feet and rubbing his elbow because of all the special attention he was getting.

He may be the greatest football player in the world, but your heart melts for him.
The funny thing is that as soon as he crosses that white line and enters the realm of the field, his behavior becomes unrecognizable.
Going from the introverted individual seen in the clip to the goal-hungry creative genius we all think of when the iconic Messi comes to mind.
Unsurprisingly, PSG cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win that day and lifted the disputed trophy between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners.
They will be hoping they can take their domestic success even further this year and claim their first ever Champions League title.
